DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)
The Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD) / German Academic Exchange Service is an association of German institutions of higher education and their student bodies. Convening in a general assembly, they elect the Executive Committee which oversees the organization’s day-to-day operations. Since it was founded in 1925, the DAAD has supported more than 2.6 million academics in Germany and abroad.
Thanks to this network, the DAAD is able to gain expertise for developing suitable programs and ensuring that funding is put to the best possible use on location. Furthermore, 18 regional offices and numerous information centers offer academic advising to students and researchers around the world who are interested in studying abroad or becoming better acquainted with the German research sector. Through targeted marketing measures, such as higher education fairs and information events, the DAAD presents a modern image of Germany, and in so doing, makes talented academics aware of Germany’s reputation as an attractive place to study and research.
