Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC)

Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) is the state’s oldest outdoor stewardship nonprofit organization. Since 1984, they have been motivating and enabling people to become active stewards of Colorado’s natural resources.

Each year, VOC engages thousands of people to provide a volunteer workforce for recreation and habitat improvement projects in partnership with land agencies, nonprofits, and community groups. These volunteer projects take place in every corner of Colorado and over the decades, they’ve grown beyond their projects – and their borders – to help others start and improve their own volunteer stewardship programs and inspire all of us to find our place in caring for the outdoors.

The Grossman Scholarship Program helps make educational dreams possible for those who have demonstrated a commitment to caring for our environment’s natural resources.

They are committed to programmatic offerings that celebrate diversity and embody inclusivity. They encourage and desire applicants from all backgrounds, ethnicities and walks of life to apply and help grow a more inclusive outdoor stewardship community that engages all people.

Thanks to the generosity of former Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado (VOC) Board Member Rick Grossman and his wife Susie, VOC annually offers two $10,000 scholarships and four $5,000 scholarships* to eligible Colorado residents who have demonstrated a commitment to caring for our environment’s natural resources and intend to pursue post-secondary education through an accredited environmental, natural resource, climate, or outdoor industry related education program in Colorado.
