UCCS Presidential Scholars Award

The UCCS Presidential Scholars Award is a competitive scholarship for incoming freshmen students who are not from Colorado who are working on their first undergraduate degree. This scholarship program is designed to make tuition affordable for the best and brightest students from out-of-state. If selected, the student will pay 110% of resident undergraduate tuition. This award is renewable for up to four years if the requirements of the scholarship are met. Minimum qualifications are a 3.0 high school GPA, and have extraordinary achievements in one of the following categories:


Sciences (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, Science Fair winners)

Leadership (e.g., Student Government or Club Leader, Valedictorian)

Arts (e.g., Visual Art, Theater, Music)

Athletics (Applicants in this category should be planning to compete in an NCAA Division II sport at UCCS.)

Applicants will be notified of scholarship results in April.

  4. The UCCS Presidential Scholars program seeks to attract students from out-of-state who will bring their past successes to the next level. In a MINIMUM OF 150 WORDS, describe your past achievements in up to two (but no less than one) of the following categories: Athletics, Leadership, Sciences, or Arts. MAXIMUM OF 400 WORDS allowed. Essays will be ranked based upon content, length, grammar, spelling, organized structure, and attention to detail. You are encouraged to write an essay that grabs the attention of the reader by being creative and using rich language.
